The European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility GmbH (European XFEL GmbH) is a multi-national non-profit company. It will make available X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. Located in the Hamburg area, Germany, it will comprise scientific instruments for a wide range of experimental techniques. Construction of the European XFEL is underway; its commissioning is scheduled for 2015. Mechatronics engineer (f/m)

The position

  • implementation, test and commissioning of prototypes
  • commissioning of precision mechanical control components
  • commissioning of the European XFEL undulator systems
  • installation and testing
  • documentation and reporting

Requirements

  • degree in mechatronics, electronic engineering or equivalent
  • knowledge and experience with PLC programming environment such as TwinCAT

  • proven record of hands-on experience with installation, commissioning and operation of control systems
  • English language skills
  • team orientation
  • communicative and collaborative personality

Welcome are

  • experience with CAD/CAE tools such as EPLAN
  • background in controls for scientific applications such as accelerators
  • previous education and experience as electrician
